Where the outdoors, animals and children meet is where you’ll find Jessie. Her passion for helping children explore the natural world, and use those experiences to improve their mental and physical health, runs deep. A lifelong lover of the outdoors, she has been riding, caring for and teaching others about horses since the age of 10.
With more than a decade of experience in mental and physical health, Jessie has spent the last five years as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) helping kids of varying abilities overcome challenges. She graduated from Kennebec Valley Community College in Fairfield, ME with an Associate’s Degree in Occupational Therapy, and is currently working on her Master’s Degree. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Science with a Minor in Business from the University of Maine at Augusta.
In Maine, Jessie worked extensively in private practice pediatrics serving children with special needs. During this time, she became experienced in multiple non-traditional therapy methods including primary reflex work using Masgutova Method ®, Rhythmic Movement Training ®, Brain Gym ® and Bal-a-vis-x ®. She has worked at Raleigh Neurology Associates’ Pediatric Therapy Department, focusing on helping children with feeding challenges and medically fragile children ages 0-21.
“Under fluorescent lights and indoors, it’s hard to understand the true child. Nature exposes the whole person, and from there, we can make progress.” – Jessie Gentz
